Known for the posting befitting comments and tweets on social networking media, Virendaer Sehwag took a dig at the Australian players saying that they didn’t sledge Indian players during the recent ODI series as they were worried about IPL contracts. The former Indian opener batsman said, “They (Australian players) are scared because of the next year’s mega IPL auctions.”
The Indian cricketer’s statement came after the five match ODI series which was one by Indian cricket team with 4-1 lead. Talking about Australian cricketers, Sehwag said, “If they had sledged the Indian players in the ODI series, then the Indian franchise owners might think before bidding high for the Australian players.”
Australian cricketers have been famous for sledging which they use as their trick to divulge the focus of opponent team’s players. Concluding over the same reason behind their normal behaviour throughout the recent ODI series, Sehwag said, “This can also be a reason for them not to get involved in sledging with their Indian counterparts.”
Most of the cricketers in Australia’s national team have been heavily active in the all seasons of Indian Premier League. In the tenth season of IPL, popular Australian cricketers David Warner and Steve Smith captained Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rising Pune Supergaints, respectively. IPL 2018 auction is going to be held in the first quarter of next year. Official date of the open auctions is yet to be announced by BCCI.
