Popular Sri Lankan cricketer Lasith Malinga is going to mentor Mumbai Indians in the eleventh season of Indian Premier League. The right arm fast bowler is all set to guide the spinners and pacers in the team, which has won the title for three times in the history of IPL.
After IPL Auction 2018, more new players have been included in Mumbai Indians’ team. Retaining Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard, owner of the team opted to buy young cricketers and purchased them at higher prices. The franchise skipped Malinga and asked him to mentor the team.
The 34 year old cricketer told media that he wasn’t surprised for not being part of the team for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League. Revealing more details about his selection as the team’s mentor, he said that he had wonderful ten years with the team and he learnt so many things in that tenure.
When asked about the player whom he finds a perfect bowler in the team, Malinga talked about Jasprit Bumrah. The Sri Lankan cricketer praised Bumrah’s style of bowling and claimed that he will be the game-changer player in the forthcoming season of IPL. He further added that he will try his best to guide and mentor the bowlers in the team.
Malinga has not been the part of his country’s national cricket team since September 2017. The right arm pacer wasn’t selected in the playing squad of the team due to some personal problems. Hence, he could not play against Pakistan in the ODI series which was played in year 2017. It will be quite interesting to see how he guides Mumbai Indians’ bowlers to perform better in IPL 2018 tournament.
