After the completion of two year ban, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals – two prestigious and popular teams of Indian Premier League are returning to the eleventh edition of the domestic cricket league. The two teams didn’t play in ninth and tenth season of the league as ban was imposed over them by Supreme Court appointed Justice (Retd.) Lodha Committee.
CSK and RR served two-year suspension for the involvement of their respective owners in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing and betting case. Talking about the return of these two teams, Acting President of the BCCI, Mr. CK Khanna had said, “VIVO IPL will be enriched by the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The loyal fans will again get to see their favourite teams and stars in action from the upcoming season of the VIVO IPL.”
“Will Dhoni return to Chennai Super Kings (CSK)?” is the biggest question in the minds of cricket fans. The right handed batsman, who was former captain of Indian cricket team, played for IPL team Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) for two years. Most probably he will be returning back to his previous team as RPS has now been dissolved by BCCI at the end of the 2017 season.
Branded as VIVO IPL 2018, the eleventh season of Indian Premier League is expected to commence on 2 April next year. The question ‘when will IPL 2018 start‘ is still unanswered as the BCCI hasn’t yet unveiled the details about the forthcoming season of globally famous T20 cricket tournament.
