Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is one of the consistent performers of all IPL seasons, but the previous season of IPL 2020 was not good for this yellow army. Last year, they failed to give their best performances and even can’t qualify for the playoffs for the first time in the history of IPL. We all know the CSK team has a huge fan base, and this time all the CSK supporters are hoping for a better show from their yellow army.

Last year CSK got their first blow when Suresh Raina decided not to participate in the IPL. As he is a key player for CSK, the team suffers a lot in the middle order. From the CSK’S side Faf du Plessis, Sam Curran, and Ruturaj Gaikwad were performed well in the last season of IPL; still, CSK failed to show their best intent towards the game. That season was fantastic for Josh Hazlewood. He performed exceptionally last season and bowled with an economy rate of 6.40.

This is IPL’s 14th season; the CSK squad will definitely be looking for a comeback this season. But before even the start of IPL, they got bad news as Josh Hazlewood confirmed to skip this edition of IPL. No doubt this might give few new players an opportunity, but definitely, CSK doesn’t want to miss out on such a key player in this season for sure.

Here in this post, we will list out such five players who might replace Josh Hazelwood in the Upcoming season. So, let’s get started with more details!

1.Oshane Thomas

West indies right-arm fast bowler Oshane Thomas was one of the strong contenders as the replacement of Josh Hazlewood in the CSK squad for the 14th season of IPL. This tall bowler is exceptional with his line length and raw pace. He can easily unsettle any batsman in the T20 format.

He has a great ODI record and took 18 wickets with five wickets with the best bowling figure of 2/6. No doubt this season can be a great opportunity for Thomas to prove himself as a good bowler in this toughest T20 format.

Thomas was a part of the Rajasthan Royals franchise before, so he is well experienced and may be picked for the CSK team as Josh Hazlewood’s replacement.

2.Sheldon Cottrell

In the 2019world cup, Sheldon Cottrell became very popular because of his exceptional bowling. This west Indian left-arm pacer has a slinging action that allows him to confuse top-class batsman and help him generate extra pace in bowling.

Sheldon has a great career till now, and especially in T20, he has picked up almost 37 wickets in 30 games with an economy rate of 7.9, which is not bad. Last season he was a part of Punjab Kings (previously known as Kings XI Punjab). This season he might get the opportunity to play for CSK as the replacement of Josh Hazlewood.

3.Tim Southee

Tim Southee can be the next strong contender for the CSK team as a replacement for Hazlewood. This kiwi’s premium fast bowler has huge experience, and no doubt he is one of the leading bowlers of the New Zealand cricket team. His deadly outswingers can put many batters in trouble.

Southee has played 81 T20 matches and picked 96 wickets, having an 8.39 economy rate. As the CSK squad lacks an experienced fast bowler this season, Southee might get a chance to join the yellow army.

4.David Willey

English fast bowler David Willey might get a chance from the CSK management as Josh Hazelwood’s replacement. David is a left-arm fast bowler and can bat well in the lower order. No doubt he is one of the useful players for a format like T20. His batting skills make him strong.

No doubt he is a good bowler who can surprise batters with his extra pace and bounce. He never got a chance to play IPL before, but recently he performed well for England, and CSK management might allow him to join the squad as a talented all-rounder and as a replacement of Hazlewood.

5.Adil Rashid

The Chennai Super Kings are usually dependent on their spin bowling attack. If the management thinks of an extra spinner as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood, Adil Rashid might be the best option.

English leg spinner Adil Rashid is an exceptional spin bowler who can trouble many batters in T20 cricket. Recently he troubled Indian captain Virat Kohli and got him out several times. He is a clever bowler having an amazing bowling record of 55 wickets in 57 matches with a decent economy rate of 7.55 in T20 cricket.

Recently he also performed well in India, and that’s why he might be the first choice of Chennai super king’s management as the replacement of seeming bowler Josh Hazel Wood.
