KARTIK TYAGI IPL Career
Kartik Tyagi is a recently established Indian cricketer known for his fast bowling skills, with regular bowling at up to 145 kmph with effortless consistency. Tyagi found fame after Rajasthan Royals signed him up for a whopping 1.3cr ahead of the Indian Premier League in Dec 2020. His selection in Rajasthan Royals and later in the Indian Cricket Team as an additional bowler for the Cricket World Cup tour in Australia has made him a household name. He is a member of the Uttar Pradesh state team and currently prepares for his next IPL season. Kartik Tyagi is yet to make his international debut.

Early life
Kartik Tyagi was born in Dhanura village, Hapur district to farmer Yogendra Tyagi and Nandini Tyagi, along with a younger sister. He belonged to a low income, agricultural family where his father vowed to never indulge him in the same labor-clad work that he was forced to do and decided to make a better life for his children and help them pursue their passion. Kartik completed his schooling from L N Public School in Hapur and is qualified till class 11th and never could pursue higher education. Although he was never interested in school or academics and found a profound fascination for sports. His father wanted him to pursue Shootball and worked hard to provide funds for his training and diet, but it was cricket that interested Kartik. He began playing cricket at the age of 12 years old. His father worked hard in the fields and accompanied him for his training sessions, cooked nutritious meals for him and supported him despite facing rejection and disappointment from their village and persistent financial issues. He even had to sell off his land to pay for Kartik’s training and expenses.
Career
After showing an eager interest in cricket, Kartik was admitted to a cricket academy in Hapur in 2012 to begin his formal training, after which he was shifted to Meerut for better facilities and learning. Kartik’s career began when he qualified for the Under-14 Uttar Pradesh cricket team, two years after which he qualified in the Uttar Pradesh Senior Cricket team at the age of 16. It took up a rapid pace and his first breakthrough came with his First-Class debut for UP vs Railways in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy on Oct 6, 2017. He later made his List A debut for UP against Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Feb 5, 2018. Shortly after this in 2019, he got selected in the Indian team for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in South Africa, where he picked up 11 wickets in six matches.
After applying for the Indian Premier League with no results for three years, Rajasthan Royals signed Kartik in the IPL auction in 2019 for 1.3 cr, which began at the base price of only 20 lakhs, finally resulting in his Twenty20 debut for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians following which, he got signed in for the 2020-21 IPL as well. He was also selected as one of the four additional members to accompany the Indian Cricket team for their Australia tour and his international debut is much awaited.
Kartik Tyagi is an extremely talented bowler, and can swing the ball with both hands and effortlessly bowl at 145 kmph and above. He is also a very talented batsman despite bowling being his forte.

Personal life and interests
Kartik lived with his parents in the Dhanura village where he got his first training lessons with his father where he used sacks full of grain for weight training and practised in a makeshift cricket pitch and net made by his father. Since the nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Kartik has returned back to his native city and practices in a manner similar to his initial days. To fulfill his ambition of becoming a cricketer, Kartik worked extremely hard under the guidance of his mentor and coach, Deepak Chauhan. Kartik spends his off days with his parents and sister and likes to train consistently. His current relationship status is reportedly single, with his entire focus towards building a strong and established career.
Kartik enjoys playing several sports aside from cricket, including volleyball and football. He derives great joy from travelling and loves the travel aspect associated with his profession. Kartik is very articulate about his fitness regime and spends a lot of time in the gym preparing his body. He derives inspiration from his favorite players, including Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Starc. He is currently keen to work under the guidance of Jofra Archer.
Income
It was indeed very surprising to see Rajasthan Royals bidding so high for this new talent in the 2020 Indian Premier League auction, but he grabbed a deal of 1,300,000 rs from his association with Rajasthan Royals, and the deal remained unchanged for the 2021 IPL season as well. His IPL salary for the two seasons amounted to 2.6 cr, with his IPL salary index being at 278.
