Lockie Ferguson was called up for New Zealand one day international squad against Australia, and he debut on 4 December, 2016. On January 3, 2017 the player made his Time 20 debut for New Zealand against Bangladesh team and in the match he took two wickets within his first two deliveries and became the second person to do so. In the year 2017, he was also added in the New Zealand test team squad, but didn’t got a single chance to play. In the year 2018, he was one of the twenty players to get a new official contract from New Zealand cricket team.
In April 2019, the player was also added in the World Cup squad and he bowled some good spells for his team. Ferguson was also named as a rising star of the team by ICC. He made his test debut in the year 2019, against Australia on 12 December 2019. On 27 November 2020, Ferguson took his first five wickets haul in T20 cricket and made history by establishing records one by one. In February 2017, Lockie Ferguson was purchased by rising Pune giant in the 2017 Indian premier League auction, but didn’t got a chance to play . In 2018 the player was bought by Kolkata night riders . In 2019-20 season of Plunkett shield season, he took his 150th first class wicket. He got a chance to play in 2020 IPL season for Kolkata night riders and he took some crucial three wickets which helped his team to play super over and they won the match. Ferguson was also awarded as a man of the match for his superb bowling spell.
