After seeing his brilliant performance in T20 cricket, the player was also included in South Africa’s one day international squad against Sri Lanka. But he was ruled out of the series due to his abdominal injury.

He was awarded man of the match for his great performance in the test cricket and also after that he was included in the ODI team against India too.
In 2018, Ngidi was purchased by Dhoni’s Chennai super kings at a price of only Rs 50 lakh. In March 2018, the player was awarded an official contract by South African cricket team. The player was retained by Chennai super kings in 2019,20 and for 21 too. Lungi took his first five wickets haul in ODI cricket against Australia. In the same match, the player became the fastest South African bowler to take 50 wickets in ODI. The player’s international and domestic cricket had gone amazingly.
