His career in cricket began when he debuted in First Class cricket for Jharkhand against Jammu and Kashmir on 9 Nov, 2017 in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy. He shortly went on to make his List A debut for Jharkhand in the 2017-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 11 Feb 2018 where he performed excellently. His brilliant batsmanship was well praised but his sharp bowling skills left the players shocked. Becoming an all rounder in cricket and working hard to improve his skills paid off and in a First Class match in Ranji Trophy against Jharkhand, Utkarsh achieved his maiden century. Utkarsh’s game kept improving rapidly with every match he played, and soon he made his Twenty20 match for Jharkhand in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 11 feb, 2018. He was excited to one day play in the IPL and learn from some of the most renowned cricketers on the globe. He always wanted to learn from his idols and experience what it must be like to share a space with them. His dream came true when in the Players’ auction organised by IPL teams, Punjab Kings signed him up for the base price of 20 lakhs ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League season and welcomed him to the team. Since then, Singh has been working hard to perform well in the IPLs with the people he admires.
