UTKARSH SINGH IPL Career

Ranchi, the hometown of captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has produced another enthusiastic and strategic player, namely, Utkarsh Singh. Born on 7 May, 1998 in Ranchi, Singh made a strong and impressive career in Domestic Cricket and also gained his maiden century during a First Class match, but he made it to the headlines after the 2021 Players’ auction of Indian Premier League where Punjab Kings spotted this young talent and bagged him for 20 lakhs. Utkarsh is yet to make his international debut and is currently working on his skills and busy focusing on the IPL.

Early life

Utkarsh was born in Ranchi, Jharkhand, where he spent most of his life. He completed his primary and secondary education in town and developed a deep passion for cricket. His father’s name is Rajiv Singh and he lived with his parents and his sister. He played cricket for Jharkhand until he shifted to Delhi. Cricket was Utkarsh’s primary career plan and he decided to work hard for it and practice diligently. 

 

Career

Utkarsh is a left handed batsman while he prefers bowling with his right arm. His career in cricket began when he debuted in First Class cricket for Jharkhand against Jammu and Kashmir on 9 Nov, 2017 in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy. He shortly went on to make his List A debut for Jharkhand in the 2017-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 11 Feb 2018 where he performed excellently. His brilliant batsmanship was well praised but his sharp bowling skills left the players shocked. Becoming an all rounder in cricket and working hard to improve his skills paid off and in a First Class match in Ranji Trophy against Jharkhand, Utkarsh achieved his maiden century. Utkarsh’s game kept improving rapidly with every match he played, and soon he made his Twenty20 match for Jharkhand in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 11 feb, 2018. His career graph in domestic cricket is admirable. He went on to represent Delhi in the Under-19 Indian Cricket team. His orthodox bowling style and impeccable batsmanship attested to his fast paced career. 

Utkarsh always showed a firm desire to perform in the Indian Premier League and knew that would be one of his biggest learning experiences. He was excited to one day play in the IPL and learn from some of the most renowned cricketers on the globe. He always wanted to learn from his idols and experience what it must be like to share a space with them. His dream came true when in the Players’ auction organised by IPL teams, Punjab Kings signed him up for the base price of 20 lakhs ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League season and welcomed him to the team. Since then, Singh has been working hard to perform well in the IPLs with the people he admires. He even got tips from M S Dhoni about how to improve his game and he is hell bent on proving his mettle.

Utkarsh maintains a very fit and active physique which he works extremely hard for. He likes to keep a clean shave or trim his beard for a neat look. Utkarsh has black hair and dark, black eyes.  He is of an average height and is 5 ft 4 inches tall. He weighs roughly 71 kgs and likes to maintain his weight and body. His chest measurement is 42 inches, while his waist is 34 inches and biceps 16 inches. He has a fair skin and likes to keep his hair short.

Utkarsh, like all sincere athletes, is a total fitness freak and spends a huge amount of time in training and gyming to maintain his skills and body. One of his absolute favorite things to do is travelling, so much so that he doesn’t mind the weather of where he is visiting and enjoys his travelling. He practices Hinduism as his faith and has great admiration for his religion. His zodiac sign is Taurus. He also loves children and is often seen spending time with little kids and taking care of them. He is unmarried and is reportedly single, not having any time to spare for relationships due a demanding and fast building career. Utkarsh loves to meet new people and make new friends and often connects with people when he is travelling or through social media.
